Real Estate: State of the Art Tax Planning Strategies (3 CEs Webinar) 

We’ll cover essential real estate planning ideas and practical tax tools. The topics will span the life cycle of real estate:  Strategies for purchasing real estate (including allocating the purchase price to land, building, land improvements, and personal property). Operating real estate topics (including the applicability of section 199A QBID to rental real estate), real estate professionals (including when to elect to aggregate rental properties), using debt-financed distributions to convert non-deductible interest to deductible interest expense, and self-employment tax as applied to real estate rentals. Learn techniques for minimizing the impact of the passive activity rules. We’ll cover “grouping strategies” that save our clients money, e.g., when to group and when not to group activities. Additionally, we’ll differentiate methods of satisfying the “material participation” rules and surprising developments in case law that tell us how to use these tests for our client’s advantage. Our speaker, Greg White CPA, has provided services in accounting and tax matters focusing on seafood and maritime industries for over 30 years. He specializes in tax planning, compliance, US Tax Court litigation, and taxpayer representation before the Internal Revenue Service. He has provided expert witness testimony in many cases and has served both as a Court Appointed Receiver and Court Appointed Special Master. Greg is also an Adjunct Professor with the Golden Gate University School of Taxation in Seattle and lecturers frequently for organizations providing professional education to other tax CPAs. He is a member of the American Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Washington State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
